History of Momoi Fishing Net
MOMOI'S
STORY
Alongside the development of the
world’s fishing industry.
The Earth is a planet of water.
We are all citizens of this blue planet and we all depend on the continued abundance of natural resources provided by its oceans.
In order to share these resources with people all over the globe,
MOMOI continues to play an active role in the global marketplace.
Since our founding in 1905 we have continuously developed revolutionary fishing materials that have allowed our customers to respond to the rapid progress of the fishing industry. In 1951, we added various synthetic fibres, such as nylon, to the list of materials from which we make our nets. In 1967 we began in-house production of our own nylon monofilament, and in 1970, our triple knotted fishing net defined a new era of modern fishing.
Our philosophy has always been to develop alongside the fishing industry, turning our attention to the world market to promote our overseas strategies. We have expanded our operations to the United States, Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, and the Philippines, and now have 3 production centres around the world, building a worldwide sales network. The world’s fishing industry is at a major turning point.
For the future of the fishing industry, to efficiently utilise the precious world fishing resources, we continue to work on product development with new materials for products in the following fields: fishing nets, fishing gear, sports fishing, and continue to develop as a world-class fishing gear manufacturer.
With the goal of contributing to the development of the fishing industry, we look to grasp a global outlook for the future of the fishing industry. We continue to secure the development of fishery food resources to feed the world, and renew our company as a “Momoi” of the world, who will continue to take on the challenge of further leaping forward in the industry.
MOMOI'S
STRENGTH
One stop speedy support,
deepening the network with our customers
Integrated production, from extruding monofilament to netting production.
We produce stable high quality products.
Momoi Fishing Net is a pioneer company in the development and production of synthetic fibre fishing nets.
In 1951, for the first time in the world, we used synthetic fibre to make fishing net material, which achieved durability that can not be obtained with twisted yarn using conventional hemp or cotton threads.
With our innovations, the name MOMOI FISHING NET spread to fishermen around the world.
In 1952, we acquired a patent for our unique mixed-twisted yarn, Marlon.
We created the foundation of today’s fishing nets.
Our triple knot patent keeps the knots in place even in the knitting process making it easy to repair and longer lasting.
New fishing net technology was born from Momoi Fishing Net.
A strong network that consistently supports you, from manufacturing to sales
Our factory is one of the few manufacturers in the world that are engaged in the production of fishing nets on an integrated production line, from monofilament production, spinning, knitting (weaving), to dyeing and finishing.
The Momoi team continues to maintain a high level of experience and know-how, delivering the most suitable fishing net products to our customers in a timely manner.
In terms of sales, we have our own direct global network, and strive to follow up on the ever-changing needs of the market.
Continuous Product Development
Based on understanding user needs, we are eager to accumulate chemical technology, and production control know-how.
These are the main points that show that we produce stable and high quality fishing nets and why users continue to use MOMOI FISHING NET products for a long time.
MOMOI’S
EFFORTS
Momoi will fulfil its mission as a member of the earth.
Our company has been making efforts on global environmental issues since the beginning. We have conducted research and worked on what we could do to give back.
To this day, we will continue to promote efforts to reduce the environmental burden in order to pass on the abundant resources of the earth to the next generation.
Loss reduction & recycling
MOMOI are pursuing the reduction of manufacturing loss, and the effective use of losses that have been unavoidably generated. We are applying the process of recycling by reusing our manufacturing loss as our raw materials.
Water reuse
MOMOI takes pride as a company involved in water. We reuse the water from the manufacturing process by chemically purifying it to a very high level.
Making eco-friendly materials
MOMOI conducts research on new raw materials that will lead to a reduction in our environmental impact.

Global Sales Strategy
Since the 1940’s, MOMOI has been actively developing its international position in Canada and the United States of America, and has been exploring ways to export its products.
MOMOI foresaw that fisheries and fishing would become an extremely important industry across the world, and that the key to success would depend on the advancement of fishing nets and other fishing equipment.
In 1947, our company name was changed to Momoi Fishing Net Mfg. Co., Ltd.
Four years later, in 1951, we re-entered the export market after the war ended. Since then, we have been steadily advancing our global strategy.
After that, we changed our strategy from exporting, to developing overseas sales centres.
In 1957, we established Momoi Company Inc., our California, USA based sales centre.
With its revolutionary fishing nets made of synthetic fibre, the company took its first step toward overseas expansion in the postwar period.
Since then, we have expanded our representative offices in Germany, Canada, Chile, and France, as well as production and sales bases in Thailand, Taiwan, Panama, Malaysia, Peru, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and China, expanding the name of MOMOI on a global scale. It has penetrated the world.
